Roger Hardiman - Technical Consultant
Roger is an electronics, computer systems and video systems engineer who
joined Optimum in 2003. He is experienced in both analogue and digital
video systems including video compression, digital transmission, Video
over IP, LAN and Wireless Networks. He is also an IT specialist,
computer programmer and networking engineer. He is a Member of the
Institute of Electrical Engineers (MIEE) and has a Masters degree with
Honours in Computer Systems and Software Engineering from the University
of York. He has also worked at the University of Strathclyde as
a Research Fellow on projects for Orange. His work involved the
development of a system to transmit video pictures via the mobile phone
network allowing cameras to be deployed in remote or temporary locations. |

Terry Pearce - Senior Consultant
Terry has provided Consultancy and Training since 1994 and wrote the first
commercial course for CCTV Operators and managers and has now developed
a full training programme. Terry is a member of the Institute of Security
Managers and Training Sub-Committees of the National CCTV User Group and
is also a consultative member with the Security Industry Authority Committee
on National Standards. |

Ted Worby - Senior Consultant
Ted formed Optimum in 1992 along with his colleague Malcolm Brown, when
they both retired from the Police Service after 31 years service. Prior
to retirement Ted achieved the rank of Chief Superintendent of the Norfolk
Constabulary with responsibility for hundreds of police officers covering
the western half of the county. Since forming Optimum, Ted has been involved
with all the major city centre and other large scale projects managing
the installation and co-ordination of all aspects of these schemes from
preliminary drawings to commissioning. |

Phill Toghill - Principal
Trainer
Phill spent seven years managing the CCTV control room on behalf of Corby
Borough Council. His achievements included leading his team to the inaugural
BSIA security team of the year for the Best use of Technology for the
East Midlands and also the national award in the same category in the
year 2001. He was also conferred with Licentiateship of the City & Guilds
of London in Security Management. The last 3 years has seen Phill combine
CCTV design, project management and consultancy with training CCTV operators
to the new SIA standards and is one of only a few to be qualified to do
so in the whole country. |

Alex Abrey - Managing Director
Alex is a Chartered Certified Accountant and Director of Ricewood
Limited, a financial and management consultancy business based in
Oxfordshire that specializes in administering, managing and arranging
financing for start-up, high-risk, high-growth, technology businesses.
Through Ricewood, he has acts as Financial Director to a diverse range
of businesses including:
- Medical Waste Solutions Ltd, a medical waste management business
- Eden Research plc, a Plus-Markets listed Agri-chemical business
with a £35m market cap
- 3DM Research Ltd, an intellectual property licensee, investing
in and setting up a plastics manufacturing facility in Tanzania,
part-funded by the EU
Alex has over ten years experience in both practice and industry and
works closely with a number of larger accountancy firms both in the UK
and abroad. |
